The Photo Page

Since 1986, technical photography has been part of my job at NIST. Most of my work in this area has dealt with the use of either high speed imaging (still, video, and/or cinema), or optical techniques to visualize density fields (e.g., shadowgraph, Schlieren, interferometry) to encountered in fluid flow fields. In addition, I have made use of laser holography to study fluid flow phenomena at very high speeds (i.e., exposures times of 0.02 µs).

Even though, some of my photographs have found their way into the achievable publications, I do not consider myself a photographer by any stretch of the imagination. Throughout the years, I have been humbled by the work of others who have the time and the "eye" to create images that can take your breath away. Nonetheless, I do enjoy taking pictures and wish to share some of them with you though these pages. I hope that you enjoy them...
