Climbing in the Austrian Alps

In August of 1995 I visited the Austrian Alps in the vicinity of my mother-in-law's house in Salzburg. In that occasion, the weather did not cooperate. It rained 14 out of the 17 days I was there, and this prevented all but a few mountain hikes. However, the beauty of the mountains haunted me for the next two years, and in August of 1997 I returned to Austria with alpine dreams in my mind.

What follows is a collection of writings and photographs describing the climbs and mountain walks that Monika and I did during the first 28 days in August. As you will see, that year we were blessed with uncommonly good weather which allowed us to do more climbing that we had hope for.
